Serotonal features the original frontman of Anathema (‘Serenades‘ 1993) and later The Blood Divine (‘Awaken‘ 1996 and ‘Mystica‘ 1997), Darren White. Darren also made a guest appearance on Cradle of Filth’s first album ‘The Principle of Evil Made Flesh’. When Darren was travelling somewhere in the world, Gary Hill and Jon
Francis-White had written and recorded some of their musical ideas. Darren
loved the idea of working on some new music - something that was different from
his previous work - but something that would still work with his dark,
emotional lyrics. Gary and Jon sent a CD to Darren which he picked up somewhere
in Asia. He continued to write lyrics and returned to record some songs. The
result was 'The End of Everything' - early 2004.
There then followed a period while they worked with a full band and that
resulted in some recordings with a more 'live' or 'organic' feel. This was not
given a full release but two songs were produced by Gary and made available for
download only. The guys went back to working in Gary's own studio, where they
could be much more creative. Loads of new songs are coming together and three
of them have been recorded. This became 'The Futility of Trying to Avoid the
Unavoidable' EP - official release January 2006.
After this Metal Breath Production to discuss with the band about publishing of
five tracks limited edition 'The Futility of Trying to Avoid the Unavoidable'
EP. Later on, Serotonal signed contract with Metal Breath Production for
publishing of "Limited Edition EP" in thousand copies of CD. The EP is already
available on many online sites and from 17/08/07,
available to buy from HMV, Zavvi (Virgin Megastore), Amazon and Plastic Head.
